Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan visits universities in Thailand

From August 3rd – 10th, 2017, USSH’s Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan led a delegation including leaders from the Faculty of Linguistics and representatives of the Office for Academic Affairs and Office for Cooperation and Development to visit 5 universities in Thailand, which ended with fruitful results and would likely open new opportunities for cooperation with these universities in the future.

Kasetsart University  

On August 4th, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH’s Vice Rector) and Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Chinh (Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics), Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics) had a work meeting with the leaders and students of Faculty of Social Sciences, Kasetsart University, Thailand. Prof. Suppakarn Pongyelar on behalf of his Faculty proposed possibilities for cooperation through exchanging students and lecturers and organizing short-term ASEAN study tours. The Faculty of Social Sciences, Kasetsart University currently trains students majoring Vietnamese language, with the intention of sending their students to Vietnam for short-term study and internship.

Chulalongkorn University  

On August 5th, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoang Anh Tuan had a visit to Chulalongkorn University. Prof. Bhawan Ruangsilp (Dean of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts) welcomed the delegation. The two sides discussed about possibilities for exchanging students and lecturers, and compiling research projects on ASEAN and short-term courses on Vietnamese language.

Thammasart University

On August 7th, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hoang Anh Tuan had a work meeting at Thammsart University-Rangsit Campus, Bangkok, Thailand. Vice President Pornchai Tarkulwaranont responsible for International Cooperation welcomed USSH’s delegation together with representatives of other departments of social sciences and relevant units. The two sides discussed about cooperation in teaching Vietnamese language and exchanging students majoring Southeast Asia studies as well as scholars.

Mahasarakham University

On August 8th, 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Chinh led a delegation of USSH to visit and work at Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mahasarakham University (northeast of Thailand). There, he expressed USSH’s desire for cooperation through welcoming Mahasarakham’s students to Hanoi to study Vietnamese in 2018, conducting short-term study tours, cultivating exchanges and providing students of each university with opportunities to study and live overseas. In recent years, Mahasarakham University has gradually become a center for Vietnamese language in Thailand, with an annual number of 40-60 students majoring this specialty.

Ubon Ratchathani University

On August 9th, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Chinh paid another visit to Ubon Ratchathani University (northeast of Thailand) and was welcomed by Prof. Sirintip Boonmee (Vice President for international relations, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts). The two sides discussed about proposals for cooperation. In the academic year of 2017-2018, Ubon Ratchathani University will send 19 students to USSH’s Faculty of Linguistics to study Vietnamese language. Representatives of the two sides also proposed cooperative activities such as exchanging students and lecturers, and co-holding conferences and study tours conducted in English.
