VNU-USSH – The very first Vietnamese university selected to participate in JSS's research book donation project

This is information at the signing ceremony of the MOU between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU (VNU-USSH) and the Japan Science Society (JSS) on December 7, 2023.
Sincerely thank the goodwill of the Japanese Science Association for lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan – USSH’s Rector expressed his admiration for JSS's contributions over the past 100 years in Vietnam and many countries. With the significance of JSS's book sponsorship project to serve learning and research activities at the university, more specifically, in the Japanese Studies department and Oriental Studies department, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan believes that this will bring the opening of many long-term and sustainable cooperation programs between the two units.
Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan shared that this is a  “fated coincidence" between VNU-USSH and JSS when the cooperation activities between the two units take place on the occasion when the two countries Vietnam and Japan are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Previously, in early November 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in collaboration with Vietnam -Japan University, VNU, organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Vietnam - Japan Relation: Past - Present - Future" which aimed to evaluate the results of research on the two countries by Vietnamese and Japanese scholars. This was a forum for young researchers, and graduate students from the two countries to exchange and contribute to strengthening cooperative relations and promoting exchanges between the two countries

Prof.Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan shared that this is a  “fated coincidence" between VNU-USSH and JSS when the cooperation activities between the two units take place on the occasion when the two countries Vietnam and Japan are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of the MOU, Mr. Takahashi Masayuki - President of the shared his joy and that of the JSS when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU participates in the Book Envoy Project of the Japanese Science Association.
The Japanese Science Association is a public legal organization established in 1924 to revive science and technology, popularize, enlighten society, and on that basis promote science and technology as well as international exchange programs. The international exchange program began in 1999. Up to now, over the past 24 years, JSS has donated more than 4 million books to 86 Chinese universities that provide Japanese language training to spread the knowledge of Japanese culture, language, education and Japanese.
Based on those experiences, in 2022, JSS launched the Book Envoy project, expanding book donation to 5 universities in 4 countries (India, Thailand, Philippines and Uzbekistan) to develop Scientific research and human resource training, especially in the fields of social sciences and humanities in Asian countries.

Mr. Takahashi Masayuki emphasized that, with its position as the leading university in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was selected by JSS as the first member in Vietnam to participate in this project.
Mr. Takahashi Masayuki - President of the Japanese Science Association shared the joy and that of the JSS when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU participates in the Book Envoy Project.
Mr. President of the Japanese Science Association hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Hanoi will become a key institution for Japanese research as well as training human resources to use Japanese in Vietnam.
