This morning, September 23, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) had the honor of welcoming Mr. Kim Gheewhan, Chairman of the Korea Foundation (KF), and his delegation for a working visit.
During the reception, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his gratitude for the support and affection that Mr. Kim Gheewhan and the Korea Foundation have shown towards the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as its faculty, scientists, and students.
The university hopes to continue receiving the Foundation’s support in promoting Korean Studies and other social sciences and humanities disciplines.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his gratitude for the support that the Korea Foundation has provided to the university over the years.
Expressing confidence in the effective cooperation between the Korea Foundation and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Kim Gheewhan, Chairman of the Foundation, emphasized that as a leading research and training center in Vietnam in the field of social sciences and humanities, VNU-USSH has made significant contributions to Korean Studies in Vietnam, thereby promoting friendly cooperation between the two countries. At VNU-USSH, students of the Korean Studies Department receive in-depth training not only in the language but also in the culture, history, economy, national character, and language of Korea. This is also the strength of the university’s scientists and students.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in training Korean language and culture and other fields in many countries around the world, with the Korea Foundation acting as a bridge between VNU-USSH and prestigious international universities.
Representatives of the two units also agreed to strengthen activities supporting faculty and students of the Korean Studies Department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in their studies and scientific research, organizing new forms of learning such as E-school, and holding academic exchange workshops and cultural exchanges for the university’s faculty and students.

Previously, during a meeting between representatives of the Korea Foundation and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in August 2024, the Korea Foundation emphasized its priority to strengthen the team of Korean Studies experts in training Korean culture and language at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Foundation also committed to continuing its cooperation in improving the university’s lecture hall facilities and the Korean Studies room, supporting the publication of scientific works, and organizing Korean cultural events at VNU-USSH.

With over 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, the government and organizations of South Korea have provided significant collaboration, companionship, and support in the field of education in Vietnam. For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), the government and organizations, businesses of South Korea, especially the KF-Samsung scholarship fund, have established comprehensive cooperation in all areas, such as supporting the construction of facilities for teaching and learning at VNU-USSH, and coordinating the organization of workshops that have yielded many positive results for students.
Notably, KF-Samsung has awarded valuable scholarships to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, creating opportunities for them to develop their personal abilities and excel in their studies. In 2023, KF-Samsung awarded 15 scholarships to regular students of the Korean Studies Department, each worth 250 USD.

The Korea Foundation (KF; Korean: 한국국제교류재단 ) is a non-profit public diplomacy organization established in 1991 to promote a deeper understanding of Korea and enhance friendship within the international community. The Foundation conducts many exchange projects between Korea and other countries to foster mutual understanding.
The Foundation’s cooperation and sponsorship activities include: supporting Korean language teaching, implementing exchange programs for leaders and youth, organizing and supporting various types of performances and exhibitions to introduce Korean culture and arts, supporting the publication of books related to Korea in foreign languages, and collecting Korean-related materials and multimedia content from universities, libraries, and institutes.
