Within the framework of the Project “Program to Support Higher Education Development” (Project PHER) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Scientific Seminar with the theme “Attraction and challenges from international publication in the field of social sciences and humanities” held on June 12 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) received the attention and participation of many scientists and lecturers.

Speaking at the opening of the Seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized: As a leading university in the field of social sciences and humanities, VNU-USSH always pays attention to and supports scientists, lecturers and students in scientific research and international publishing.
With the cooperation and support of the PHER Project, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities successfully organized the Training Course on Writing Research Proposal Skills in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities at the end of May and received positive feedback from scientists and lecturers attending. Following that success, the Seminar "The appeal and challenges of international publication in the social sciences and humanities " was held for scientists and lecturers to exchange and discuss the necessary factors to write quality articles that meet international standards; difficulties and challenges in that process and how to overcome them to produce high-quality, reputable scientific publications.
Vice Rector Dao Thanh Truong expressed his hope that the PHER project will be a bridge connecting the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU with many training and research institutions around the world, supporting the improvement of the quality and quantity of scientific research and international publications.
Prof. Sumit Kane - Head of the Social and Cultural Aspects of Health Systems research group, Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne shared his joy at once again visiting and working at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
According to Professor Sumit Kane, academic writing and publishing is a key task in the life of a scientific researcher, writing and publishing are essential for academic development. However, scholars, especially new researchers, are facing increasing pressure to promote scientific publications, publish in high-impact journals, typically international journals. Therefore, scientific writing and publishing can both create a sense of professional satisfaction, but at the same time can also discourage researchers.
Professor Sumit Kane also shared his personal experience of international publication, the dos and don'ts when approaching academic writing, the pitfalls and risks as well as approaching the publishing process and guiding prevention techniques through practical examples.
